Machupicchu, a New World Wonder and UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the World and often on the bucket lists of many persons!  Due to the vast numbers of tourists visiting the site, the Peruvian government has issued new regulations for 2019 in order to help conserve and maintain this historical site in the most pristine conditions possible.

Please take some time to familiarize yourself with these regulations.

If you have the early time slot you will do the hike first followed by the guided tour.

BUSES UP TO MACHUPICCHU
You can only board the bus 30mins prior to your entrance start time.

DURATION OF VISIT
The maximum time you are allowed to stay in Machupicchu is 4hours. This is however loosely controlled at the moment. If you require much more than 4 hours for your visit, you will need to purchase another entrance ticket and it must be done in advance through ourselves as you cannot purchase entrances at the site.

TOUR GUIDE POLICY
All visitors must enter with a licensed tour guide. The tour guide must present a valid and up to date identification card upon arriving at this site along with a list of his/her tour group. If you are visiting Machupicchu twice you may re-enter on the second visit without a guide but must retain your previous entrance tickets to show officials along with your new ticket.

ROUTES WITHIN MACHUPICCHU
There is a signed route around the ruins that guides have to follow, however, always ask your Guides advise on how to maximize your time at the site because if you follow the route and do not veer off it you will not be able to double-back on yourself and will have to exit the ruins.  Your Guide will be able to show you which detours you can take to gain extra time and advantages.  In general the ear marked route takes around 2-2.5hrs with your guide.

LEAVING THE GROUNDS
Please note that once you leave the grounds of the site you are not allowed to re-enter. However, if circumstances arise whereby you need to leave the grounds and return, it is best to check with officials before leaving to be very sure they will let you back in – we have no control over this. Toilets and cafeteria are located outside the grounds.

BACKPACKS
Visitors are not permitted to walk in the ruins with large backpacks. There are storage lockers at the entrance of the ruins where you can stow your goods for a few Soles.

PLASTIC BOTTLES
No plastic bottles are permitted into the site! We recommend you take with you aluminum bottles to avoid problems.
